RECEIVE COMMUNICATIONS & USING CROSSBAR

Our new Crossbar website (effective May 1, 2025) has both email and chat functions. It is important to understand how to be a part of each as we transition away from TeamSnap for the offseason and future years.

2025 SPRING SEASON COMMUNICATIONS - ONBOARDING & TRANSITION TIME

STEP ONE - Register your player for the FREE Crossbar 2025 HS Season - click black button below, then black REGISTER button under 2025 High School Season (there may be a quick step that requires you to create an account if you do not have a Crossbar acct; use the parent information for email, your will add your player as a participant)

STEP TWO - In order to CHAT, you will need to download the Crossbar App, be rostered to a team, and are a USER.

  • Download the Crossbar App available for both iPhone & Android. Make sure push notifications in your general settings are enabled for the app (for any changes in settings to take effect, the app can not be open on your phone).

  • After registration has been completed above, your player will be rostered to two teams:
  • Their Prep/ JV/ Varsity team
  • An "ALL TEAMS CHAT 2025 SPRING SEASON" team

  • You can chat with either just your player's team or with all three teams via the ALL TEAMS CHAT team.

  • You can also send individual messages to anyone on any team by looking at the roster for each team and selecting who you want to send a message to (parents names will be listed under also)

  • Usually it is parents who are the users and their player(s) are considered participants. Participants (players) can not use the Crossbar app to chat, but they will be able to have the app, see schedules for their team, etc.

  • If a player wants to be a part of the chat, and give people access to message them indidually via the app, they will need to be added as a USER to the parent account OR create their own account with a unique login information.

RECEIVING OFF-SEASON COMMUNICATIONS STARTING JULY 1, 2025

We will transition completely out of TeamSnap and to Crossbar.

Instructions will be posted in June 2025.

UNDERSTANDING CROSSBAR WEBSITE & APP FUNCTIONS - worth a read!

Every platform has it's nuances!

Crossbar Lingo: MEMBERS vs. USERS vs. PARTICIPANTS, "REGISTERING" & "TEAMS"

  • Anyone can become a MEMBER of the Minnetonka HS Girls Lacrosse Organization on the Crossbar website. Members can receive email communications that the booster board sends through the Crossbar platform. The booster board can enter anyone to become a member with a few data points from you. An example of a "member-only" would be a new family to the program who has not been on a team yet but wants to get the booster board emails. Another example would be an alumni family that wants to continue to get the detailed email communications and remains a member of the organization.

  • The idea of "REGISTERING" will be used often with Crossbar but will not always have a fee... registration for HS Lacrosse will always run through the HS, but 2026 and onward, after team placements, families will also complete a short Crossbar registration that will involve paying booster dues during the registration. Crossbar "free" registrations will also be used to make teams and chats specific to some off-season play opportunities. Registration with Crossbar is a concept that is used to create a team which then has the ability to communicate, access a specific schedule, etc.

  • Once you register for something (even if it is a free registration), you become a USER and there will be a PARTICIPANT that you are registering (similar to SportsEngine).
  • USERS
  • Have created an account with Crossbar with an email and password - these are usually parents but you can add any email contact to your account to be a user (including a spouse and/ or a player, for eg.)
  • Will be able to CHAT on the Crossbar app if their player is registered to a team
  • PARTICPANTS
  • Is the actual person a User registers. You can add participants as needed (eg. for multiple kids).
  • Will be rostered to a team if applicable (this requires a back end person to complete)
  • TEAMS - Once a participant is rostered to a team, not only will they will show up on the roster on that team page but USERS for that participant can now
  • Chat on the App with any team they have a rostered participant
  • Send individual messages to any contact listed under a rostered player on any of their teams (this is why your player will be rostered to at least two teams in season - her level team (Prep/JV/ V) and the "all-teams chat" team.
  • Access a calendar feed that includes general events but also team specific scheduling (games & practices) particular to their family

  • Side note: The Minnetonka Youth Lacrosse Association and the Minnetonka HS Boys program are all moving to Crossbar so if you have players in any of these other organizations, they can all be accessed with one USER account - similar to SportsEngine
